Our aim
is to identify new genes and proteins implicated in retinal diseases, which
will in turn tell us more about normal eye function. Ultimately we hope to use
the knowledge generated to contribute to the search for therapies for human
blindness. We have recently used a classical positional cloning strategy
to identify the genes involved in the RP9, RP13 and RP18 forms of dominant
Retinitis pigmentosa. A similar approach is being applied to loci for familial
exudative vitreo-retinopathy...
